Load test your data centre cooling solution with DPS heat banks
7th June 2011
Heat
generated within a data centre is a critical issue and therefore effective and
reliable cooling is an absolute necessity. But how much generated heat can you
effectively cool before needing to switch off over-heating units or perhaps
even shut down the installation?
Alternatively, you may know exactly how much heat your current rack configuration can stand, but establishing how your computer room air conditioning unit (CRAC) would perform if you added another rack or series of servers is also mission critical information.
To determine whether the CRAC unit can handle the increased thermal activity you could run computer simulation. But, even though software solutions can generate highly advanced theoretical models on anticipated airflow and heat output in a Data Centre there is no real substitute for physical simulation.
DPS offer a range of Heat / Load test banks that can generate a pre-determined thermal load and airflow, providing the answers to whether your CRAC can cope. Our Heat Banks and Server Simulators are available for hire or purchase to perform such testing, and can be deployed within days to facilities throughout Europe.
