Frequently Asked Questions

Intelligent Power FAQ's:

Q - What types of socket can I have on your intelligent PDU?

A - Standard units come with IEC sockets (C13 / C19). We can however support most socket types including UK, Schuko, Italian, Danish, Austrailian etc. You can combine any socket type as long as all the sockets operate with the same Voltage.

Q - How do I connect to the unit?

A - Each PDU has a unique RJ45 port with its own IP address.

Q - How do I know what IP address the unit has when it arrives?

A - All factory shipped units come with the IP address 192.168.123.123. This IP address and gateway details are also printed on the front label on every PDU.

Q - Can I change the IP address and all other network settings?

A - Yes. Each PDU can have a unique configuration to work on your network and across a WAN. You have full control over the IP address/Ports/Gateway/DNS etc.

The Integrated web server also supports DHCP for automatic addressing.

Q - Your Remote Power Monitoring includes KWh monitoring. What accuracy is this and can I use it for billing?

A - The accuracy on these units is very high (+/- 3%). This is within the tolerance levels assigned to consumer based KWh monitoring devices. The difference with our device is that it is not certified as MID (Measurement Instrument Directive) compliant therefore it is not considered a legally binding measurement device.

Q - Do your units retain all data should they become disconnected from the mains supply?

A - Yes. All data is held in non volatile memory.

Q - Can I reset the KWh reading if I need to?

A - Yes you can. An administrator of the unit can reset any KWh counter (there can be more than 1!). For those who operate a Co-location/server rental business, you can now 'zero' the KWh reading if your customers change.
